Sam is currently completing a Co-op term where he works as a research assistant at Carleton University, studying computational electromagnetism. Sam is passionate about encouraging a strong space community in Canada, joining SEDS in 2024 as a Regional Representative, and becoming a Zenith Pathways Fellow for the Class of 2025. Sam contributes to the avionics sub-team of CU InSpace, Carleton’s student-led rocketry club, and has participated in various engineering consulting competitions. Sam also worked for many years as a tutor and mentor to high school and first-year engineering students. In his free time, Sam plays guitar in a band, reads various fiction and non-fiction books, and remains dedicated to empowering students who aspire to join the Canadian space sector.
Lexis is a Communications student at McMaster university. She is responsible for managing the PR, social media and marketing for SEDS-Canada. She is enchanted by everything from exoplanets, stars, crystals and minerals, space travel, and beyond. A lover of books and night-sky watching, She enjoys taking her own astrophotography and finding creative inspiration from STEAM-focused stories like Project Mc2 and Luciana Vega. She is passionate about bridging the gap between space, science and female voices so that space can feel accessible to all.
Rimaza Saleek is a Business Accounting student at Concordia University with a passion that goes well beyond spreadsheets. She currently serves as the VP Finance for SEDS Canada, where she is responsible for managing the organization’s finances. When she was a child, Rimaza was very interested in astronomy and loved learning about space and the galaxy through science projects. Joining SEDS felt like a natural way to rediscover that spark, while surrounding herself with others who share the same excitement for the industry. Outside of school and work, Rimaza enjoys reading and baking, and she hopes to learn how to play the piano in the future.
Olivia Song is a Computer Science student at McGill University. She currently interns at MDA Space and leads a project with McGill Rocket Team for McGill’s first CubeSat mission, contributing to system design and integration. In addition, she serves as VP Media for the McGill Institute for Aerospace Engineering Student Committee. As Projects Chair at SEDS Canada, she oversees national projects and expands access to space-related opportunities across Canada.
Leo is a second year Engineering Physics student at the University of Alberta with a special interest in robotics and plasma physics. He currently serves as Deputy Projects Chair on the SEDS-Canada Board of Directors where he helps oversee the many project campaigns SEDS runs. Outside of SEDS, Leo is a member of the Attitude Determination and Control System team for the Ex-Alta 3 CubeSat mission from AlbertaSat. He is also the Systems Lead for AlbertaSat’s high altitude balloon mission launching in the summer of 2027, studying energetic electron precipitation. In his spare time, he loves playing basketball and rock climbing. He hopes to pursue a career that combines his interests in aerospace, physics and robotics.
