Advice

Networking in the job search process is essential. Meet new people and ask them questions!

Keeping a regular check on your life priorities and goals is essential. You need to be in tune with yourself and take the necessary steps to move in the right direction. During the COVID-19 pandemic, I evaluated my job and realised that, once the excitement of the exotic location was removed, I was not doing work that I was passionate about. I knew I needed to make a change. Taking a leap of faith, I entered a field with no prior background. To gain practical knowledge and experience, I opted for an internship. This decision enabled me to understand how it felt to work in the field and helped me hone my transferable skills acquired from working abroad and navigating ambiguity. Stepping into a new industry can be daunting, but I learned that being passionate about your work is more rewarding than sticking to the familiar. It is never too late to follow your dreams and explore new avenues.
